How do I get to Greater Friendship Baptist Church?
Our Church is at 539 George W. Engram Blvd Daytona Beach, FL. From Interstate 95 take the International Speedway Blvd Exit. Travel East on International Speedway until you come to Nova Road. Turn left on Nova Road and continue to George W. Engram Blvd. Turn right on George W. Engram Blvd, and continue about a mile and a half to the church on your right. There is a large marquee sign out front.
Do I have to be a member to participate? For worship and praise No. For specific ministry functions Yes. Greater Friendship we encourage participation as a member, and non-members our welcome at all of our community events. In some ministries training may be required, but we will support you in any way that we can.
Do I have to be a member to schedule a baby dedication? No, you do not have to be a member to schedule a baby’s dedication. You can schedule the dedication by scheduling a meeting with our Pastor or one of Ministers, or you can simply submit a request through our website. Your information will then be passed to one of our Staff members who will contact you to discuss this very important step in your child’s life.
What programs do you have for Children? At Greater Friendship we believe that kids are an integral part of our ministry. We offer Sunday School at 9:00 a.m. where they will have the opportunity to learn God's Word in a way they can relate to and understand. While parents are enjoying the main worship service at 11:00 a.m. we offer our Children’s Church to your children ages 2-10 years old. We have weekly youth ministry activities on Wednesday evenings from 6 to 8p.m. Your child will be given hands on training in the faith by our loving Youth Ministry staff each week. While it is not mandatory, we also encourage our kids to get involved, and so you will see them participating in all areas from special programs, to greeters to ushers, to singing in the youth choir, or leading out in the entire service just to name a few.
Will I be asked to give money? We want you to relax and enjoy the freedom of not being pressured to give. Giving is something we do every week as Disciples of Christ. Cheerful giving is a tangible opportunity for us to place our financial trust in God as we honor Him with our tithes and offerings.
What are the service times? We have Sunday School for adults and children at 9:00 a.m. - Main Worship service is Sunday at 10:45 a.m. - Weekly Prayer Services are Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. - Adult bible study taught by our Pastor is every Tuesday 7:00 p.m.
What should I wear to your services? At Greater Friendship we care more about meeting your needs rather than what you wear to Church. For many that may mean dressing up but for others it simply means wearing casual clothes. We just want you to enjoy the presence of God.
How do I become a member? During our worship service, there is a call to Discipleship immediately following the sermon, at which time you can come to the altar to accept Christ, or join on your Christian experience from another church. Or you can fill out a visitor card and note your interest in becoming a member. Someone will contact you to start the process of becoming a member.
Will I be asked to stand and/or identify myself as a visitor? We believe that most people feel uncomfortable standing and introducing themselves. So, while we want to get to know you and make you feel welcome, we will never embarrass you in any way. So we do not always ask visitors to stand. You can relax and enjoy meeting people at your own pace.
What type of music do you sing? Our anointed and talented worship team provides a passionate, upbeat gospel style of music. We blend our music with a balance of worship and meditative songs to help people connect with God in an intimate way. We consider ourselves a progressive church, but we value the "old hymns" as well. Most of all we strive for our music to be a reflection of our love for God.
What if I have a prayer request? You can contact our Pastor directly, visit our church or submit a Prayer Request through our website. Have a question that is not listed? Ask here. |
